FIFA World Cup 2026 has arrived in Vancouver, and while tickets inside BC Place remain one of the hottest commodities in the city, there are several ways to experience the tournament without entering the stadium.
With seven FIFA World Cup matches being played in Vancouver and demand for tickets remaining extremely high, many residents and visitors may assume they are missing out on the excitement.
The reality is quite different.
FIFA is transforming Vancouver into a citywide celebration that extends far beyond BC Place. While the stadium remains the centre of the action, fans can also experience the tournament through fan festivals, cultural programming, community events, public viewing opportunities, and celebrations taking place throughout the city.
For many residents, some of the most memorable World Cup experiences may happen outside the stadium itself.
BC Place Remains the Centrepiece
BC Place is hosting seven FIFA World Cup matches, including five group-stage games and two knockout-round matches.
The stadium serves as the focal point for Vancouver's FIFA activities and international media coverage, drawing visitors from around the world.
However, FIFA has evolved into far more than the matches themselves. Modern World Cups are designed as citywide festivals, with many fans spending as much time at viewing events and celebrations as they do inside stadiums.
FIFA Fan Festival™ Vancouver: The City's Biggest World Cup Watch Party
For fans without a BC Place ticket, the FIFA Fan Festival™ Vancouver may become the next best thing.
Hosted at the PNE (2901 East Hastings Street), the official FIFA Fan Festival runs from June 11 through July 19, 2026, offering free general admission throughout the tournament.
FIFA describes the event as bringing "The Beautiful Game to a Beautiful Place," with Vancouver's coastal mountains providing a dramatic backdrop for one of the city's largest public gatherings.
The festival takes place at Hastings Park, a location that has served as a gathering place for British Columbians for more than a century.
At the heart of the site is the PNE's newly constructed 10,000-capacity open-air Amphitheatre, which serves as the centrepiece of the fan experience and one of the largest public viewing venues associated with the tournament in Canada.
Over 28 days, the festival features more than 100 hours of live FIFA World Cup broadcasts, over 70 matches shown on giant screens, and more than 120 artist performances.
Visitors can enjoy:
• Live FIFA World Cup match broadcasts
• Giant viewing screens
• Live music and entertainment
• Interactive fan experiences
• Family-friendly activities
• Local and international food vendors
• Cultural programming
• Interactive sponsor activations
The festival provides an opportunity for fans from across British Columbia, Canada, and around the world to gather together and experience the excitement of the World Cup without needing a stadium ticket.

Canada Soccer House at The Shipyards
Another major FIFA destination is Uber Eats Canada Soccer House, located at The Shipyards (125 Victory Ship Way) in North Vancouver.
Canada Soccer House officially opened on June 11 and operates on select days through July 7, offering fans an opportunity to celebrate Canadian soccer while experiencing the World Cup alongside supporters from across the country.
Visitors can enjoy:
• Live match viewing
• Entertainment and special events
• Food and beverage experiences
• Family-friendly programming
• Interactive fan activities
• Canadian soccer celebrations
On days when Canada Soccer House is not operating, The Shipyards continues hosting soccer-related programming and World Cup watch parties through the tournament, including the FIFA World Cup Final on July 19.
Located on North Vancouver's waterfront, the venue offers one of the region's most scenic World Cup gathering locations and provides fans with another option beyond BC Place and the FIFA Fan Festival.

Community Viewing Events
Throughout Vancouver, restaurants, sports bars, community organizations, and event venues are hosting match-viewing experiences and FIFA-themed activities.
From downtown Vancouver to neighbourhood gathering places, the tournament is creating opportunities for residents and visitors to participate in the World Cup atmosphere together.
The result is a citywide celebration that extends well beyond BC Place.
Economic Benefits Beyond BC Place
One reason governments and tourism organizations support major events such as FIFA is the economic activity they generate throughout the community.
Visitors attending matches typically spend money on:
• Hotels
• Restaurants
• Transportation
• Attractions
• Retail shopping
• Entertainment
This means many businesses that never enter BC Place may still benefit significantly from the tournament.
Areas such as Robson Street, Gastown, Yaletown, Coal Harbour, Granville Island, Kitsilano, Richmond, North Vancouver, and the PNE area are expected to see increased visitor activity throughout the tournament.
A Citywide Celebration
For many residents, FIFA 2026 is about more than soccer.
The tournament provides an opportunity to experience international culture, connect with visitors from around the world, and participate in one of the largest sporting events ever hosted in Canada.
While tickets inside BC Place may be difficult to obtain, there are numerous opportunities to take part in the excitement.
Whether through the FIFA Fan Festival, Canada Soccer House, neighbourhood viewing events, restaurants, cultural celebrations, or community gatherings, Vancouver residents have many ways to experience the World Cup.
Because when the world arrives in Vancouver, the celebration doesn't stop at the stadium gates.
