Farmers Markets draw large crowds across Vancouver. Spring is here and farmers market season is now fully underway across Vancouver, with neighbourhood markets drawing residents and visitors looking for fresh produce, artisan foods, flowers, baked goods, and locally made products.
Operated primarily through Vancouver Farmers Markets, the city’s markets have become important community gathering spaces while also supporting small farms, food producers, and local entrepreneurs across British Columbia.
This season, markets are operating in neighbourhoods including Kitsilano, Trout Lake, the West End, Mount Pleasant, False Creek, Riley Park, and Downtown Vancouver, creating a citywide network of local food and artisan commerce.
At the popular Trout Lake Farmers Market in East Vancouver, more than 60 farms and producers participate weekly. Vendors typically include organic vegetable growers, berry farms, mushroom producers, artisan bakers, cheese makers, coffee roasters, florists, and prepared food vendors. The market runs every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Lakewood Drive and East 13th Avenue through October 31.
In Kitsilano, the Kitsilano Farmers Market operates Sundays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Larch Street and West 10th Avenue. The market features more than 50 farms and producers each week, along with food trucks and coffee vendors.
The West End Farmers Market, located on Comox Street between Bute and Thurlow, runs Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. through October 31. Vendors include produce growers, baked goods, seafood, meats, artisan food products, and local craft beverage producers.
Additional Vancouver markets include:
• False Creek Farmers Market — Thursdays, 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., Olympic Village Square at Milton Wong Plaza (May 14–October 29)
• Downtown Farmers Market — Wednesdays, 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., Hornby Street and West Georgia Street (May 13–December 23)
• Mount Pleasant Farmers Market — Sundays, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Dude Chilling Park
• Riley Park Summer Farmers Market — Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., near Nat Bailey Stadium
The markets are also becoming increasingly important economic drivers for local food systems. According to the BC Farmers’ Market Trail, Metro Vancouver markets help connect consumers directly with producers from across the Fraser Valley and British Columbia.
For many vendors, farmers markets provide an important business platform that allows smaller producers to reach urban customers directly without relying solely on traditional retail distribution. The markets also create significant pedestrian activity in surrounding neighbourhoods, benefiting nearby cafés, restaurants, and small retailers.
Popular vendors across Vancouver markets often include local farms, artisan bakeries, prepared food companies, honey producers, flower growers, seafood vendors, coffee roasters, and specialty makers selling everything from handmade pasta to organic skincare products.
As outdoor activity increases across Vancouver during the spring and summer months, farmers markets continue to play a growing role in supporting local agriculture, food security, and neighbourhood community life.
